“We are excited to be part of the Investec group and expect to benefit from Investec's global reach and partnership culture. Our firms share a mutual focus on impartial advice and long-term client relationships. We operated very successfully for the past ten years as an independent firm, but we feel that tying up with a player like Investec will enable the firm to broaden its offering to existing clients and take advantage of the growing interest from domestic and international companies in Greater China.”

Investec plc ("Investec") is pleased to announce the acquisition of Access Capital Limited ("Access"), a Hong Kong based corporate advisory firm.

Access, which was founded in 2000, has a client base of over 300 companies publicly listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange ("HKSE") and has worked for Chinese corporates in all major industry sectors. Access has also worked extensively in other parts of Asia and is regularly ranked as a top ten firm for mid-market deals in Hong Kong, China, India and Malaysia by Thomson Reuters.

The firm is regulated and approved by the Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong ("SFC"), where it is licensed to provide corporate finance advice (including advice on takeovers and mergers), undertake IPO sponsorships, deal in and advise on securities and asset management services.

Further to completion of the acquisition, Access has been renamed Investec Capital Asia Limited ("ICAL").

Investec's Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Koseff said: "We are delighted with the acquisition of Access Capital, a high quality corporate finance advisory firm that further extends Investec’s offering in Asia. We are already actively engaged in fund management and private equity investments in the region, but with the addition of Access, Investec will have an enhanced platform in Asia from which to serve its international clients and grow a stronger presence in the region."

Andy Leith, international head of Investment Banking for Investec, said "Having operated in the private equity arena in Hong Kong and China for the past 5 years, it was time to expand the group's investment banking activities in Asia. In the past few years, clients in Europe, Australia and South Africa have shown an increasing interest in conducting activities in the region, or in listing in Hong Kong. We are delighted that in Access we have the right partner, in terms of corporate culture and reputation, to enter the market."
